Planning a Kilimanjaro expedition means choosing from Six distinct climbing paths, each with its own character and challenges. The southern approaches include beginner-friendly Marangu, known for its cozy huts and gentle 5-6 day climb. The scenic Machame route, called the “Whiskey Route,” takes 6-7 days through diverse landscapes from rainforest to arctic conditions. Western paths like Lemosho, and the Northern Circuit provide better acclimatization and higher success rates. Lemosho starts with beautiful views of the Shira Plateau over 7-8 days.  The Northern Circuit is the longest at 8-9 days, circling the entire mountain with the best acclimatization success rates over 95%. The northern Rongai approach offers a quieter 6-7 day trek from the Kenyan border with unique views and fewer crowds.
